The first game of the respect campaign took place yesterday, where FC Honka made the first exchange of a baton, which contained an anti-racism manuscript, to the players on the visiting side, FF Jaro.
Over 3000 fair trade bananas were offered to fans attending the match to support the ant-racism message as a theme, based on last weeks match, which saw Barcelona player Dani Alvesia eat the banana the opponents fan threw at him last week.
The match ended in a tie FC Honka 1-1 FF Jaro…..Now FF Jaro will continue the passing of the baton in Thursdays match against VPS!
The Finnish Multicultural Sports Federations ’Show Racism the Red Card’ organised a seminar on the role of education and Sport in combating racism and had a fantastic turnout. The Minister of Culture and Sport State Secretary, Mr Jarmo Linden made the opening speech and emphasised the importance of education and sport in supporting the message against racism.
There were many fantastic presentation ranging from sports such as football, basketball, ice hockey and athletics. It was also nice to hear how the Nordic countries plan to develop Show Racism the Red Card in their plans in future cooperation. Finally, we ended the day off with representatives of two key international schools (Helsinki international school and Turku international school) and show racism the red card from Ireland who shared their experiences to help form open-ended discussions. Now let’s move to the next level and put these fantastic ideas into action!!!

Finland leads Europe: over 10 SRTRC-Games in the Finnish football league
Hi SRTRC supporters,
We are very glade today to inform you about all good news from Finland concerning the Show Racism The Red Card as the main and only campaign supported by the Ministry of culture and sport delivering anti-racism work in the top levels of sports.
After the success of the ”toward more tolerance ” seminar in Helsinki -April 2013- where the Minister of Culture and Sport Paavo Arhinmäki stated: ”No one should suffer because of his or her background. Fimu has successfully launched SRTRC campaign in Finnish football fields, we support Fimu’s work and this is a good example of an international model to integrate immigrants using sport”, here is small summary about the big activities that comes after:
Thanks to the league Football Clubs family, Fimu has organized over 10 games in the Finnish league only and much more games in all other levels such named SRTRC -games to show up the anti-racism message for example:

So the campaign takes place in more than 10 cities from South to North of Finland.
Also the activities been reported in all main local newspapers and medias and some parts been shown in TV like Finnish MTV3.
Fimu and Players Union have launched an educational tour in the refugees centers where Fimu takes part in introducing the SRTRC and addressing the anti-racism through football with participation of many famous league players. Fimu and Players Union continue the SRTRC Nordic campaign that started since 2005.

On Wednsday 5.8.2009 Fimu ry and FC JJK has organized so called- Veikkausliiga SRTRC GAME – between Fc JJK and KuPS, in this game the JJK players play with SRTRC logo in them shirts and also give examples in the field for showing an SRTRC stronge message to all.
Show Racism The redcard project 2009
FiMu has signed a cooperation agreement with JJK for the Finnish football season 2009.
Joining the super league JJK will paly very important role for the SRTRC project, multiple activities will take place in important games, hoping to continue to achieve a positive behavior inside and ouside the football field.
in Finnish First League, Fimu has achieved agreement with the two Finland’s Football Ambassadors against racism, Babatunde Wusu and Tommi Kari to transmit the message of SRTRC and introduce its objectives to media, fans and players. FiMu made with them a campaign work, so that they will play all games 2007-2008 with SRTRC logo in them shirts .
